Dr. Paul W. Ivey has been a science educator and higher education administrator for more than 30 years. He is currently Associate Professor and Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies, Research & Entrepreneurship at the University of Technology, Jamaica.

He holds the following academic qualifications that are complemented by his participation in numerous workshops and professional development activities:

1. PhD in Entomology & Environmental Planning & Management – awarded in 1997 from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA;
2. MSc in Entomology – awarded in 1991 from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA;
3. MEd – awarded in 2001 – in Adult Education/Lifelong Learning from Mount St. Vincent University, Halifax, Canada;
4. BSc – awarded in 1989 – in Agriculture from The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad &Tobago.
5. ASc – awarded in 1987 – in Agriculture from the College of Agriculture, Portland, Jamaica.

Dr. Ivey is a prodigious scholar. He has taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has engaged in the development of syllabi and teaching/learning materials. His research interests are: applied entomology; andragogy; and research productivity, innovation, and the impact of higher education institutions. Additionally, he has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, has authored 10 books, written several technical reports, made presentations at over 30 conferences, and has been involved in professional consultancies. He is a founding member of Caribbean Research and Innovation Management Association (CabRIMA). His service to the wider community includes being an invited speaker at functions hosted by numerous social and professional organizations, including graduation ceremonies by education institutions. He has also served on bodies such as the CXC National Committee; UNESCO (Jamaica) Science & Technology Committee; Council of Community College of Jamaica; Board of Graduate Studies and Research, Caribbean Maritime University; Graduate School Advisory Committee, The Mico University College; Technical Working Group of the Cannabis Licensing Authority; and as an Assessor and member of the Science Board of Studies of the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ).
