World Accreditation Day

The UCJ joins the global community in celebrating World  Accreditation Day, June 9, 2021 under the theme “Accreditation: Supporting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

The theme is a fitting focus as this universal agenda   Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) in the Education Agenda 2030 ,  aims to ‘ensure inclusive and equitable quality education to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’ was forged out of concern for sustainable human and social development. The UCJ’s recent involvement in a global study conducted by the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP/UNESCO) came at an opportune time as this study demonstrated how Jamaica responded to the global call to take deliberate measures to fulfil the five tenets of SDG 4 : access, equality, equity, quality,  and  lifelong learning.

The UCJ, as national External Quality Assurance Agency  (EQAA) for higher education is proud to be an accrediting agency and continues to execute its mandate to assure quality in the Jamaican higher education sector through the quality assurance processes of Standard Development, Registration of Institutions, Accreditation of Programmes and Institutions, Recognition of Institutions and the Credentialing of Qualifications.

We join with  the global community  in striving to achieve this goal and to ensure continuous quality improvement  and enhancement as we work closely with sister EQAAs and higher education institutions.
