Dr. Carolyn Hayle is a tenured Senior Programme Officer and Senior Lecturer at The University of the West Indies and a former Executive Director of HEART / NTA, Tourism Action Plan Ltd. and Jamaica Heritage Trails Ltd.
Academically, undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business and Management from Strayer College and Howard University in Washington D.C. respectively, preceded her doctoral degree in Sustainable Development from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
Dr. Hayle has more than 30 yearsâ€™ experience in executive management, strategic planning, strategic marketing, management and workforce development at the international public and private sector levels. Her 8 year placement with the World Bank and extensive residencies in both Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados combine to afford her a unique view of the Caribbean context of business.
Dr. Hayle has worked with most of the International agencies that operate in the Caribbean as well as with several prestigious global International Consulting firms. Her insightful and pragmatic approach to problem solving has been rewarded by high demand for her work on consulting assignments. Examples of her depth and scope are illustrated by these assignments: in 2013, Dr. Hayle designed a Sustainable Development Plan for a Regional Monitoring and Evaluation System for Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation in the Tourism Sector within the Caribbean (CDEMA). In 2015, Dr. Hayle redesigned and restructured the distance education curriculum for Sustainable Tourism for the Commonwealth of Learning (COL). On the private sector side, in 2015/16, Dr. Hayle led the strategic redesign and restructuring of a major private sector Company in Jamaica resulting in significant increases in its revenue base.
She has served, and currently serves, on several public, private and non-governmental Boards and is the author of several chapters, journal articles, manuals and books.
