Joint Committee for Tertiary Education

About the JCTE
The Joint Committee for Tertiary Education (JCTE) was launched in 1991 under Section 6 of the Education Act.  The JCTE operates under the auspices of the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) and is administered by an Executive body elected by its members.

The mission of the Joint Committee for Tertiary Education is the promotion of tertiary education and training in Jamaica, the strengthening of tertiary institutions and training units both public and private, the pooling of resources and sharing of experiences to promote a common education management culture.

Membership on the JCTE is open to those tertiary institutions which have been registered by the UCJ.  In its promotional role, the JCTE hosts two annual events; a conference in April and a workshop in October.  In addition, biennially the committee recognizes the contributions of outstanding educators, as well as students at its member institutions who have performed well.
